Psalm 139:7-12

INTRODUCTION

• GREATNESS OF GOD – HIS INFINITENESS & PRESENCE EVERYWHERE…
• Psalm 139:7-12 – “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

UNDERSTANDING THE PRESENCE OF GOD IN THREE WAYS:

1. The Presence of God Is…INFINITE!

• GOD IS OMNIPRESENT…Omni means ‘All’…Present means…GOD IS PRESENT IN ALL PLACES AT THE SAME TIME…
• GOD IS INFINITE…GOD IS TOO BIG TO BE MEASURED…This means

1. God is immanent – He actively operates the world & sustains it
2. God is transcendent – He is present above, beyond or apart from His creation.

• AVOID TO WRONG BELIEFS:
• WRONG BELIEF NO 1 – WORSHIPPING THE CREATED THINGS…SINCE GOD IS WITHIN THE CREATION.
• WRONG BELIEF NO 2 – GOD IS SO SEPARATE FROM HIS CREATION THAT HE IS NOT PERSONALLY INVOLVED.
• Two things we learn when we understand that OUR GOD IS INFINITE & PRESENT EVERYWHERE…

1. We Don’t DICTATE To God
2. We Cannot DOMESTICATE God
3. The Presence of God Is…INESCAPABLE!

• YOU CANNOT RUN OR HIDE FROM GOD’S PRESENCE…
• REALIZING THAT GOD IS PRESENT WITH US SHOULD AFFECT THE WAY WE LIVE FROM DAY TO DAY!
• GOD DOESN’T RUN A DETECTIVE AGENCY…RATHER HE RUNS A GRACE CAMPAIGN!

III. The Presence of God Is…INCREDIBLE!

• GOD HAS COMMITTED HIMSELF TO OUR WELL-BEING…
• GOD IS INDEED INCREDIBLE IN HIS PRESENCE…HIS LOVE & HIS CARE…
• THREE THINGS ABOUT GOD’S ATTENTION TOWARDS US:

1. God Is AWARE
2. God Is AVAILABLE
3. God Is ABLE

• Two Commitments from us:

1. PRACTICE HIS PRESENCE IN OUR LIFE
2. PREPARE FOR HIS PRESENCE IN OUR GATHERING

GOD’S PRESENCE NEVER DISAPPOINTS BUT ALWAYS DEEPENS OUR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR GOD AND HIS LOVE FOR US!
