Jesus answered, “It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” [Matt 4:4]

Scripture is God’s voice available for you in every moment, situation and crisis you face. We can be sure God desires to speak to us because he has given us his voice through the Bible. God desires to reveal to you his will and has given us his Spirit to guide you into all the truth…[John 16:13]. God has given us his Holy Spirit as our guide and tutor, and when you read Scripture with the help of this Teacher, the Bible is no longer just a book written thousands of years ago, but a source of life-giving revelation. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth [John 16:13, NLT]

Just as any good parent loves talking with their children, your heavenly Father loves talking to you, his child. His desire to communicate with us has led him to share the gift of the Holy Spirit with each of his children. This `Spirit of truth’ now dwells within you and through him you now have access to the heart of God. You can hear God’s voice, discern his will and live with the knowledge of his love.

The Spirit’s voice is perfect, full of love and always truthful. He longs to tell you how God feels about you, and to guide you to the Father’s perfect will and wonderful plans. Allow that truth to sink into your heart for a minute. Your Creator wants to help you with your decisions, relationships, work, finances, problems – with every aspect of your life. He longs to fully know you and be known by you. God speaking to you is less about your ability to hear his voice – it’s more about his desire for you to know him. His voice in your life is just another reflection of his grace, his unmerited favor, towards those who have put their trust in him.

Like any conversation, you will only hear God’s voice when you are listening. But like any good conversation, God longs to hear from you as well. Draw near to him with the assurance that he loves you and wants to speak to you. Let the weight of your conversation rest on God’s shoulders, as you take time to quiet your heart and learn to listen to the voice of the Spirit. If you’ve never done it before…start today!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer [Rom 12:12]

On the 1st of October one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history took place as a gunman opened fire at a music concert in Las Vegas. Close to fifty people were killed and more than five hundred injured. Such random acts of violence make seeing the good in the world increasingly difficult, and when we are constantly confronted by all that heartache, loss and tragedy, it’s hard to have hope. It’s hard to believe that in spite of all the madness and chaos, there is hope for the world. How can we continue to have hope in a broken world? Read more

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know [Jer 33:3]

It blows your mind and boggles the imagination, doesn’t it? To think that our heavenly Father would offer us glimpses into his mind and heart – share with us …marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own [Jer 33:3, MSG]. How does that happen? In order for us to truly engage with God in prayer, we must Call to him and learn what it means to Listen

Mother Teresa said: Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at his disposition, and listening to his voice in the depth of our hearts. Taking time to listen to God in prayer is at the very core of what it means to be a child of God. You and I have no less ability to hear God than Mother Teresa or any of the disciples. We can hear God’s voice if we are simply willing to make space and time to seek his presence in faith and wait on him patiently.

He invites us to Be still, and know that I am God [Psa 46:10]. In stillness we grow in our knowledge of who God truly is. God longs to make us a people who know him the way we know our family and friends. And learning to encounter God throughout your daily life starts with getting alone in the secret place, quieting your heart, and growing in your knowledge of God.

Brother Lawrence said: There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of a continual conversation with God. All of the blessings of life in all its fullness flow from a place of intimate and continuous fellowship with our heavenly Father. Ask the Lord to reveal himself to you in the secret place today. Take time to simply listen to God. Pay attention to the way you feel as you quiet your heart – be sensitive to thoughts, ideas and shifting desires that he places in your heart.

May you experience a greater level of the joy of intimacy with Jesus – let your heart come alive as you spend time in the presence of a God who longs to speak to us…if we will take time to listen!

He [God] saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede… [Isa 59:16, ESV] Read more

Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” … The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength...GOD, high above, sees far below; no matter the distance, he knows everything about us...Finish what you started in me, GOD. Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.” – ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭138:1-8‬ ‭MSG‬‬

There are these three amazing things I notice about God.

Firstly, WHENEVER I call out to God, He steps in and helps me see things from His perspective. God’s magnificent perspective that opens up my eyes and enlarges my vision to see things as God wants me to see.  Read more

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things [Col 3:1-2]

To live for heaven is to throw off every weight that would hinder us from pursuing fullness of life in relationship with Jesus. To live for heaven is to make as much room in our hearts for Jesus as possible – to declare with our thoughts, actions and emotions that Jesus is truly Lord of our lives. Read more

If GOD doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If GOD doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?” – ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭127:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬ Read more

‘I’m going to put my great and holy name on display, the name that has been ruined in so many countries, the name that you blackened wherever you went. Then the nations will realize who I really am, that I am God, when I show my holiness through you so that they can see it with their own eyes.’ (Eze 36:23, MSG)
In the book of Ezekiel God grieves over the conduct and actions of His people – people who bore His Name wherever they went and in whatever they did, His Reputation was at stake!
Sadly, God’s people had once again failed Him through their conduct and actions! (Eze 36:17,19). They had forgotten that they were His ambassadors (2 Cor 5:20) and that their lifestyle was to reflect the character of their Heavenly Father – good, kind, gentle, holy, true, gracious, compassionate, etc.
After numerous warnings, God finally had to bring judgment upon them but through His prophet He expresses His pain – one of the saddest sentences – ‘I suffered much pain over my holy reputation’ (Eze 36:21, MSG).
Yet, His desire was not to destroy them! In His abundant compassion and love for them, He refers to their complaints and pain and then responds to it – ‘This is what you are saying: Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?’ Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?’ (Eze 33:10-11)
His love and grace provided the opportunity for repentance and healing but they had to choose – repentance and healing OR destroyed lives and judgment!
His desire still stands. This is what He requires of us – as followers of Jesus, His ambassadors in this world – that our conduct and actions should always, always bring Glory and Honour to His Holy Name!

Life is a beautiful gift from God: a precious and amazing gift. If we take our life seriously, we will truly understand that each day is a gift from God. Sometimes because our life is so busy we forget how life is so fragile. It is so ironic that we get a glimpse of it when someone is dying, diagnosed with a chronic disease, or when we see or hear something terrible happening around us. Read more
